“…and do not follow the footsteps of Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy. (2:168)
It is a popular scene; especially in the western world to see children, adolescents etc. dressed in devilish, scary costumes & masks; knocking at doors for “TREAT OR TRICK” on the 31st of October thinking we are all having “FUN”. That, is the layman’s understanding of “HALLOWEEN”. Halloween originated among the ancient Druids, who believed that on that evening, SAMHAIN, the lord of the dead, called forth hosts of evil spirits. The Celts also believed that the spirits of the dead revisited their earthly homes on that evening. The Druids customarily lit great fires on Halloween, apparently for the purpose of warding off all these spirits. The Celtic tradition of lighting fires on Halloween survived until modern times in Scotland & Wales, & the concept of ghosts & witches is still common to all Halloween observances. Halloween was the evening of OCTOBER (31st) & was regarded as a good time for examining the portents of the future. After the Romans conquered Britain, they added to Halloween features of the Roman harvest festival held on November 1st in honor of Pomona, goddess of the fruits of trees. Traces of the Roman harvest festival survive in the custom, prevalent in both the United States & in Great Britain, of playing games involving fruit, such as ducking for apples in a tub of water, the use of hollowed-out pumpkins carved to resemble grotesque faces & lit candles placed inside.
In 1834 C.E in Europe, the church having significantly been influenced by the idolatry of the time, succumbed to devil worship by moving ALL SAINTS OR ALL HALLOWS DAY from May 13th to November 1st which coincides with Pomona, goddess of the fruits of trees day .The church also chose the night preceding this day i.e. 31st of October to be called ALL SAINTS OR ALL HALLOWS evening. Indeed, a marriage of convenience between idolators. What the Satanists do annually as Halloween day is exactly what Christian’s do on all saints day every year around the world today. The components of the rituals are same i.e. lighting up graves, expecting the departed souls back in their earthly homes etc. with slight modification & modernization e.g. Christians light up candles in glasses, Satanist light it up in Pumpkins. Mexico which is largely Catholic, has a similar celebration at the same time, called day, “El Da De Los Defuntos” (THE DAY OF THE DEAD).This concept has been modernized, monetized, made to seem harmless, fun like by incorporating it into many spheres of life e.g. Shopping promos, adverts, gifts, souvenirs, cartoons (Disney animation cartoon titled “The Book of Life”) instilling this belief of day of the dead in our children. Halloween represents the DEVIL WORSHIPPER’S NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATION which entails worship & honoring of the devil & dead spirits. This is directly against the command of the Qur’an. “Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan – [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy, And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path. Q 36:60-61.
Therefore, Muslim commemoration of such a day is absolutely HARAM; AS IT INVOLVES THE WORST ELEMENTS OF SHIRK & KUFR. Indeed, participation in it is similar to one promoting idolatry based Gregorian New year, Christmas or Easter. Muslims world over should strongly educate & advise their children, relatives & friends (Muslims & Non-Muslims) against participating in any shape, form or fashion in this modernized form of devil worship e.g. giving or accepting souvenirs/gifts, wearing devil masks, congratulating etc. The Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam): “Whosoever resembles a people is from them.”(Ahmad & Tabarani).
Abdullah ibn ‘Umar said, “One who settles in the lands of the non-Muslims, celebrates their New Year’s Days, and behaves like them until he dies, will be raised with them on the Day of Resurrection.”
“And those who do not witness falsehood, and if they pass by some evil play or evil talk, they pass by it with dignity.” [Q25:72]
Mujaahid, Rabi‘ ibn Anas & Adh-Dhahhak,(may Allah be pleased with them): the word “falsehood” used in above verse refers to “the holidays of the mushrikeen.” Muhammad ibn Sireen is more explicit, stating that the verse defines “the people of shirk practicing their shirk, & (the verse admonishes us) not to participate with them.” Thus the believers are those referred to in the verse as “not witnessing falsehood. Other such idolatry holidays that follow in in October & in other months have the same ruling e.g. thanksgiving day, black Friday etc
True Muslims avoid all forms of satanic & doubtful signs & symbols no matter the camouflage. e.g. as customs, songs, music, dance, art, cartoons, fashion, culture, fun fair etc.
“HALLOWEEN: SATANISM & MODERNISED DEVIL WORSHIP IS HARAM IN ISLAM. STAY CLEAR, DON’T BE TRICKED.
“…and do not follow the footsteps of Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy. (2:168)

The month of Safar is one of the 12- months of the Hijri calendar; it is the month that comes after Muharram. Some say it was so called because Makkah was emptied of its inhabitants [Safar, TRAVEL], they travelled during this month. Some say it was because they used to fight other tribes during this month, and they would leave whoever they met with zero (sifr) goods. See: Lisaan al-‘Arab by Ibn Manzoor (vol. 4, p. 462-463)
We will discuss this month under the following points:
Comparing the narrations from the Arabs of Jaahiliyyah & Islamic teachings on safar.
Innovations & false beliefs concerning this month found among those who claim Islam.
III. False hadiths narrated about it.
I. COMPARING THE NARRATIONS FROM THE ARABS OF JAAHILIYYAH & ISLAMIC TEACHINGS ON SAFAR.
The Arabs had two grave objectionable practices with regard to the month of Safar:
They used to tamper with it, bringing it forward & putting it back from its place in the calendar for their selfish interests. Ibn ‘Abbaas said that Junaadah ibn ‘Awf ibn Umayyah al-Kinaani used to attend the Hajj season every year and call out: Verily Abu Thumaamah is never rejected or refuted. Verily, Safar last year was not sacred; we make it sacred one year and not sacred the next year. And they were with Hawaazin, Ghatafaan and Banu Sulaym (regarding this matter). According to another version, he used to say: We will bring Muharram forward and delay Safar. Then the next year he would say: We will regard Safar as sacred and delay Muharram.
They regarded it as unlucky
It is well-known that Allah, may He be exalted, created the year and the number of its months as twelve months, four of which Allah, may He be exalted, made sacred, during which it was prohibited to fight, out of respect for the sanctity of the month. These months are: Dhu’l-Qa‘dah, Dhu’l-Hijjah, Muharram & Rajab.
“Verily, the number of months with Allah is twelve months (in a year), so was it ordained by Allah on the Day when He created the heavens and the earth; of them four are Sacred. That is the right religion, so wrong not yourselves therein”[9:36].
Regarding the month of Safar as unlucky was well known among the people of the Jaahiliyyah and continued among some ignorant Muslims.
Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (sallAllaahu‘alayhiwasallam) said: “No ‘adwaa [transmission of infectious disease without the permission of Allah], no tiyarah [superstitious belief in bad omens], no haamah [refers to a Jaahili Arab tradition described variously as: a worm that infests the grave of a murder victim until he is avenged; an owl; or the bones of a dead person turned into a bird that could fly], and no Safar [the month of Safar was regarded as unlucky in the Jaahiliyyah]. But flee from the leper as you would flee from a lion.” Bukhaari & Muslim. They also believed that ‘umrah during the months of Hajj was one of the worst of evils. Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: They used to think that ‘umrah during the months of Hajj was one of the worst evils on earth. They would make Muharram Safar and say: They would say: when the backs of the camels have healed and the tracks of the pilgrims have become erased and Safar is over, ‘Umrah becomes permissible for those who want to do ‘Umrah. (Bukhaari & Muslim). Abu Hurayrah in as-Saheehayn, says that the belief of the people of the Jaahiliyyah concerning Safar was blameworthy, because it is one of the months of Allah and has no will of its own: rather it is subject to the will of Allah. It is obligatory to put one’s trust in Allah alone and to be steadfast, and not to feel weak when faced with these things.
INNOVATIONS & FALSE BELIEFS CONCERNING THIS MONTH FOUND AMONG THOSE WHO CLAIM ISLAM.
The scholars of the Standing Committee were asked:
Some of the scholars in our country claim that in the religion of Islam there is a naafil (supererogatory) prayer to be offered on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar, at the time of Duha prayer; it is four rak‘ahs with one tasleem, and in each rak‘ah one should recite the Opening of the Book (i.e., Soorat al-Faatihah), Soorat al-Kawthar seventeen times, Soorat al-Ikhlaas fifty times, and al-Mi‘wadhatayn [the last two soorahs of the Qur’an] one time each, and that is to be done in each rak‘ah, then the tasleem is to be said [at the end]. After saying the tasleem, one should start to recite “And Allah has full power and control over His Affairs, but most of men know not” [Yoosuf 12:21] three hundred and sixty times, and Jawhar al-Kamaal three times, and conclude by saying “Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! And peace be on the Messengers! And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)” [as-Saaffaat 37:180-182].
The person is also expected to give some bread in charity to the poor. This verse is chosen to ward off calamities that may occur on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar.
They say that every year, three hundred and twenty thousand calamities befall people, and all of that happens on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar. So that day is the most difficult of all the days of the year, but whoever offers this prayer in the manner described, Allah will protect him by His kindness from all calamities that come down on that day. Is this the case?
The scholars of the Committee replied: With regard to this supererogatory prayer mentioned in the question, we do not know of any basis for it in the Qur’an or Sunnah. In our view it is not proven that any one of the early generations of this ummah or the righteous among its later generations did this supererogatory prayer. Rather it is a reprehensible innovation (bid‘ah).
“Whoever does a deed that is not part of this matter of ours, it will be rejected.” And he said: “Whoever introduces anything into this matter of ours that is not part of it, it will be rejected.”
Shaykh Muhammad ‘Abd as-Salaam ash-Shuqayri said:
The ignorant have the custom of writing the verses of salaam, such as “Salamun (peace) be upon Nooh (Noah) (from Us) among the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)” [as-Saaffaat 37:79] and so on, on the last Wednesday of the month of Safar, then they put them in vessels and drink (water that has been poured on them), and seek barakah (blessing) thereby, and exchange them as gifts, because they believe that this will remove evil. This is a corrupt belief and is blameworthy superstition and an abhorrent innovation; everyone who sees it must denounce the one who does it. As-Sunan wa’l-Mubtada‘aat (p. 111, 112)
III. FALSE HADITHS NARRATED ABOUT SAFAR.
Ibn al-Qayyim said: Where the hadith mentions certain dates, such as saying “In such and such a year, such and such will happen; or, in such and such a month, such and such will happen.”
Or as when the arch liar said: “If the moon is eclipsed in Muharram, prices will rise, there will be fighting and people in authority will be distracted, and if it is eclipsed in Safar, such and such will happen.” And the liar went on to say something about all the months.
All such hadiths are false and fabricated. Al-Manaar al-Muneef (p. 64). Prophet (sallAllaahu‘alayhiwasallam) said: “Do not tell lies about me, for whoever tells lies about me will enter Hell.” Bukhaari. And he also said: “Whoever narrates a hadeeth from me that he thinks is false is one of the liars.” Muslim. Tap link for details on lieing about the prophet https://islamqa.info/en/34725

This is due to the extremism they have with regards to the cousin of Prophet Muhammad, Ali, to whom they base their origin. They claim that the succession of Ali was mentioned in all of the scriptures revealed to the previous prophets. They claim that all humans will be asked about the succession of Ali on the Day of Judgment, and that if anyone believes differently, they are considered polytheists. Although Ali (radiallahuanihu) was known to be one of the most pious of the companions of the Prophet, in no narration can we find that Prophet Muhammad ever mentioned his succession in rule. On the contrary, early Shiite works, attribute this belief to Abdullah ibn Saba’, a renegade who claimed Islam & plotted against the Caliph Uthman, and also claimed that Ali was God Himself. Thus, it is clear that these beliefs are all innovations never preached by Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam).
The Shiites believe that there was a scripture revealed after the Qur’an before the death of the Prophet, which they call the ‘TABLET OF FATIMAH’. They claim, that in it were the names of all those who were to be their Imams in the future. The Shiites became so extreme in their beliefs, that they even attempted to insert chapters about Ali (radiallahuanihu), in the Quran, since they could not find any clear texts. One of them is what they called “The Chapter of Succession”. See details http://islamqa.info/en/45563http://islamqa.info/en/34577http://islamqa.info/en/12103
They invented these ideas due to the fact that they could not find any verses in the Qur’an which they could use to defend their views. When they failed at the attempt of inserting a chapter in the Qur’an, they did not cease, but went on to directly challenge the authenticity of the Qur’an today by stating that it has not been preserved & that it is incomplete. They say that we Muslims, have merely 30% of the original & the 70% is with their run-away 12th Imam who has been in hiding for over 900 years in ‘the cave’ ; after he was said to have miraculously disappeared at the age of 9yrs.They say, he is the one in charge of the world & shall return as imam Mahdi at the end of time. When he comes, they claim he will resurrect the worst of disbelievers (Allah forbids) according to them Abu-Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with them all & he shall flog them & then crucify them). They believe that when he emerges he will bring forth the complete version of the Qur’an. Allah says otherwise
“Verily it is We Who have sent down the Reminder (QUR’AN) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)” (Quran 15:9).
Shiism has no basis in any of the teachings of Islam, rather, it is a conglomeration of foreign beliefs evolved over a period of time, all of which revolve around extremist views concerning the leadership of certain favoured candidates, known as their Imams; a life and existence solely based upon love of Ali and claim to leadership. They say creations came into being, Prophets are sent and Scriptures are revealed, all for the purpose of succession of Ali and the latter Imams, and even on the Day of Judgment, it will be their Imams, not God, who will judge people. A religion based upon a falsely claimed love of the family of Prophet Muhammad has lead them to beliefs contradicting the very essence of the message brought by him.
Other jaundiced views & beliefs they have include MU’TAH (Temporary Marriage/Zina).They say committing zina of mutah for times, elevates one to the rank of prophets. They also believe that chain of Prophethood is not complete & that Imaamat is the fifth pillar of Shiism; those who reject it are Kufaar in their cult of shiism. They say TAQIYYAH is Fardh; practice of concealing the truth for the purposes of misleading unsuspecting people into their fold. They believe & falsely claim that after Rasoolullah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) died, all the companions apostatized (left the fold of Islam) except 4 or 7 (Salman Farsi, Abu Zarr Ghaffari, Miqdad bin Aswad & Amaar bin Yaasir (may Allah be pleased with them all).Surprisingly, they forgot or deliberately did not to add the name of Alli (a pious companion of the prophet who they take as their god incarnate) in that fabricated report in their books. They make cursing of all other companions….(especially Abu-Bakr, Umar& Uthman), cursing the wives of the prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) who Allah described as mothers of the believers….(especially Aisha, Hafsa) a pillar of their faith. “The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers (as regards respect & marriage)”[Q33:6]. “….say not to them a word of disrespect” [17:23]. See details http://islamqa.info/en/47572. http://islamqa.info/en/954
They mourn annually the death of Alhussain (prophet’s grandson) & cut themselves until they bleed & consider karbala; where he was matyred as holier than Makkah & Madinah. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-J5tE3weJ8http://islamqa.info/en/9055http://islamqa.info/en/14631http://islamqa.info/en/4033http://islamqa.info/en/14007https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOR1NYTXwjg This is why they carry in their pockets baked stones made from the soil of karbala ; they make sujud on it in their fake salah that is done only 3-times a day not 5.After knowing that all these mind bogging beliefs & acts of shias are true, you do not need a rocket scientist to tell you that SHIAS ARE NON- MUSLIMS & APOSTATES (left the fold of Islam). The dream of the unity between the shia(5 %)ers on kufr, shirk & Ahlu Sunnah 95%er on tawheed will never come true In sha Allah. Pls stop saying shi’a- islam or shia Muslim. That is a self contradiction. Simply SAY shi’a(rafidah/rejecters).
“Verily, those who divide their religion and break up into sects, you have no concern in them in the least. Their affair is only with Allah, Who then will tell them what they used to do.” (6:159).
The word “Shi’a” in Arabic means a “party”, “sect”, “supporters”. The term Shiite was first used in regards to a political issue over which the Muslims varied, 37 years after the death of the Prophet (sallAllaahu‘alayhiwasallam). It is clear that the term was unheard of during the time of the Prophet, & thus Shiites appeared after the death of the Prophet.
It started as a political opinion which favoured some views of Ali, the cousin of the Prophet, over some other companions, it however eventually became a sect purporting strange ideas foreign to Islam. This was due to the fact that this ideology was mainly espoused by people in areas far from the centres of Islamic learning; Persia, those who were either new to Islam, converted to Islam nominally, but remained upon their previous religions. Thus, the Shiites became fertile soil for the introduction of foreign ideas in beliefs from Judaism, Zoroastrianism & Islam. No wonder one of the most important shrines visited for worship of their so called saints by many Shiites is that of Abu Lu’lu’ah, a Zoroastrian who killed the 2nd Caliph; Umar (radiallahuanihu). This shrine is located in the city of Kashan, Iran. Muhammad Ali Mu’zi, an Iranian Shiite researcher in France, stated:
“The basic fundamentals of the Zoroastrian religion has entered into Shiism even in some minute issues. …And this relationship marked the brotherhood between Shiism & the ancient Magian (Majoos) Iran.”
Shiites believe in the veneration & calling on others besides God. For them, Homage is to be paid to great saints & martyrs, such as Ali, Hussein, Fatimah, their Imams, and they believe that they can answer their calls, help them as well as intervene for them with God, a belief that according to Islam is clear shirk.
“Is not He (God) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil.” (27:62).
They believe thunder & lightening is caused by these so called “12 infallible Imams”.
“And among His Signs is that He shows you the lightning, by way of fear and hope, and He sends down water (rain) from the sky, and therewith revives the earth after its death. Verily, in that are indeed signs for a people who understand.”(30:24)
In authoritative Shiite texts, its states:
“The Imams have knowledge of whatever occurred in the past and whatever will happen in the future, and nothing is concealed from them.” (Al-Kulaini, Al-Kaafi, p.260)
“The Imams have knowledge of all the revealed books, regardless of the languages in which they were revealed” (Ibid, p.227)
“The Imams know when they will die, and they do not die except by their own choice” (Ibid, p.258)
“All of the earth belongs to the Imams.” (Ibid, p.407) “Say: ‘None in the heavens and the earth knows the unseen except Allah, nor can they perceive when they shall be resurrected.” (Q27:65)
All the previous Prophets e.g. Noah, Ibrahim, Musa, Jesus (Peace be upon them all) all invoked God Almighty by the names of these Imams at their times of need & trials. (Wasa’il As-Sheea, 4/1143).
“Verily, whosoever sets up partners in worship with Allah, then Allah has forbidden Paradise for him, and the Fire will be his abode.” (5:72)
Shiism differs from Islam in the first & most important pillar of Islam i.e the Shahaadah. This testimony is the most important aspect of Islam, & the whole religion is built upon it (unique & absolute monotheism).
The Prophet (sallAllaahu‘alayhiwasallam): “No one says ‘La ilaaha ill-Allah’ and dies firmly upon it, but he/she will enter Heaven (Paradise).” (Al-Bukhari).
The Shiites, however, have a different ‘testimony of faith’ different from that of the Qur’an. They not only negate its meanings, as earlier shown by associating others with God, but they have also added certain principles nowhere to be found in authentic texts. THEIR SHAHAADAH COMPRISES OF THE STATEMENT: “NONE DESERVES WORSHIP BUT GOD, AND THAT MUHAMMAD IS HIS SLAVE AND MESSENGER, AND ALI IS HIS BELOVED AND CHOSEN ONE, AND SUCCESSOR TO THE PROPHET.”

‘Aa’ishah (radiallahuaniah) :The Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) went out one morning wearing a striped cloak of black camel hair. Al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali came and he enfolded him in the cloak, then al-Husayn came and he enfolded him in it, then Faatimah came and he enfolded her in it, then ‘Ali came and he enfolded him in it, then he said: “Allaah wishes only to remove Ar‑Rijs (evil deeds & sins) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam), and to purify you with a thorough purification” [33:33]. (Muslim).
Amazingly, this hadith is commonly quoted by the shi’as (kufaar) as a proof to restrict definition of ahlul bayt (household of the prophet) to only these 4 people, further amazement is the fact that the same hadith was narrated by ‘Aa’ishah (radiallahuaniah); one of the beloved wives of the prophet, a member of his household & one of the mothers of the believers (Q33:6) who they curse, call a liar, a fornicator etc. How can they present as a proof of argument the narration of one they accuse of all these?
The verse [33:32,33] shows that in-addition to all others that may be included, the wives & daughters of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) are definitely included : “And stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignorance, And perform As‑Salaah, & give Zakaah & obey Allaah & His Messenger. Allaah wishes only to remove Ar‑Rijs (evil deeds & sins) from you, O members of the family (of the Prophet, and to purify you with a thorough purification”.
Allah included & regarded wives of previous prophets as part of their families: And the angels said to Saarah the wife of Ibraaheem (alehimsalam).“The Mercy of Allaah and His Blessings be on you, O the family of Ibraaheem]”[11:73]. “(All) except the family of Loot. Them all we are surely, going to save (from destruction). Except his wife…”.[15:59-60]. See also Q28:12 where ahlul bayt referred to mother of Musa. These indicate that the wives are normally part of the family.
There are several views among the scholars concerning the extent & scope of the definition of Ahl al-Bayt of Prophet Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) beyond those stated above. Some said his wives, his children, Banu Haashim, Banu ‘Abd al-Muttalib & their freed slaves. Some said, the pious among his ummah; & some said they are all of the ummah of Muhammad (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam). With regard to the family of al-Muttalib, the correct view is that they are among the Ahl al-Bayt. Jubayr ibn Mut’im (radiallahuanihu) said: “ ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan and I went to the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah, you have given to Banu’l-Muttalib and not to us, but we and they are the same in status with regard to you.’ The Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) said: ‘Banu’l-Muttalib & Banu Haashim are the same thing.’” (Bukhaari).
With regard to the freed slaves, it was narrated that Mihraan the freed slave of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) said: the Messenger (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) said; “We are the family of Muhammad: the sadaqah is not permissible for us, and the freed slave of a people is one of them.” (Ahmad). Included among the Ahl al-Bayt are Banu Haashim ibn ‘Abd Manaaf, who are the family of ‘Ali, the family of ‘Abbaas, the family of Ja’far, the family of ‘Aqeel & the family of al-Haarith ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib. SO, THE FAMILY OF THE PROPHET (SALLALLAAHU ‘ALAYHIWASALLAM) ARE: HIS WIVES, HIS CHILDREN, BANU HAASHIM, BANU ‘ABD AL-MUTTALIB AND THEIR FREED SLAVES.
Zayd ibn Arqam (radiallahuanihu): “The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) stood up and addressed us one day at a well called Khum, between Makkah & Madeenah. He praised Allaah & exhorted and reminded us. Then he said: ‘O people, I am a human being; soon the messenger of my Lord [i.e., the Angel of death] will come to me and I will answer his call. I am leaving among you two important things: the first of which is the Book of Allaah, in which there is guidance and light, so adhere to it and follow it’ – and he urged us to adhere to the Book of Allaah, then he said: ‘And the people of my household (ahl bayti). I remind you of Allaah with regard to the people of my household, I remind you of Allaah with regard to the people of my household, I remind you of Allaah with regard to the people of my household.’”
Allaah has bestowed upon the Ahl al-Bayt of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) numerous virtues. Ahl al-Sunnah wa’l-Jamaa’ah are unanimously agreed that it is obligatory to love them & respect their rights BUT NEVER TO WORSHIP THEM.
The family of the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) have rights which attention must be paid to. Allaah has allocated to them a share of the khums and fay’, and He has enjoined that blessings be sent upon them along with the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam), who said to us: “Say: ‘Allaahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin kamaa salayta ‘ala aali Ibraaheem, innaka Hameedun Majeed, wa baarik ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala aali Muhammadin kamaa baarakta ‘ala aali Ibraaheem innaka Hameedun Majeed (O Allaah, send prayer upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent prayers upon the family of Ibraaheem; You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory. And send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings upon the family of Ibraaheem; You are indeed Worthy of Praise, Full of Glory)’”.
By the same token, narrated by Abu Eeesa : (saheeh hasan Tirmidhi). Al-’Irbaad ibn Saariyah,; “the Prophet led us in prayer one day, then he turned to us & exhorted us strongly . . . (he said), ‘Pay attention to my sunnah (way) & the way of the Rightly-guided Khaleefahs after me, adhere to it & hold fast to it.’” (Abi Dawud). The companions of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) paid attention to this commandments; foremost among them were Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq & ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (radiallahuanihumah). Abu Bakr said to ‘Ali (radiallahuanihumah): “By the One in Whose hand is my soul, kinship with the Messenger of Allaah is dearer to me than kinship with my own people.”(Bukhari).Abu Bakr (radiallahuanihu) said: “Pay attention to the rights of the household of Muhammad.” Al-Haafiz Ibn Hajar said: The words “Pay attention to the rights of the household of Muhammad” are addressed to the people, enjoining them to fulfil the rights of Ahl al-Bayt. ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab used to put them ahead of himself or any other people with regard to allocating shares from bayt al-maal. The love & respect for the household of the prophet must never lead to worshipping them directly or indirectly through giving them divine attributes, asking them for intercession or for help, worshipping at their supposed graves etc.
The kufaar (Shias/Raafidis) worship them & claim that intercession is only for the family of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam). It is also stated in their books of kufr that Ahl al-Bayt are the ones who will admit people to Paradise & to Hell! Anas (radiallahuanihu): a man said: “O Messenger of Allaah, where is my father?” He said: “In Hell.” When he turned away he called him back & said: “My father & your father are in Hell.”
Al-Nawawi said: This shows that whoever dies in a state of kufr will be in Hell. And being related to one who is close to Allaah will not avail him anything.
There is no intercession specifically for the family of the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam), rather the Prophets, the martyrs, the scholars, the righteous and the angels will also join in that whether they are among Ahl al-Bayt or are from previous prophets & among the ordinary people. A man’s righteous deeds may also intercede for him, but the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhiwasallam) will have the greatest share of intercession.
